DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ! ! !I had them come out to install a whole-house surge protecter. They quoted $105/yr (I provided the surge protector). Then, they me that they had to replace two breakers in my box in order to do the install. When I reviewed the prices they were charging they were >50% higher than anything I saw. They will low-ball an estimate and seriously gouge you on parts that they “didn’t realize they needed”. Wasted 2 hours of my time and didn’t finish the job.

It is very important to think about certain things before hiring a electrician. For insurance purposes and when a permit is required, you may want to hire a licensed electrician. It is important to know that a electrician can pay for any damage they cause to your home. And you would not want to be sued if a worker is injured while working in your home. It is smart to think about before hiring a contractor out to do a big job, to ask him to see proof of workers compensation that he should carry. And also to see proof of their current license.
Depending on what kind of repairs or installation you need, your city could require a permit for the electrical work. Ask your electrician if the job calls for one and have him or her put the permit under his or her name. Ensuring the tradesperson obtains a permit will safeguard you from any blame if the labor turns out to be subpar.
Some companies may require a 10% deposit, some may not require any. For larger projects, you’ll almost always need to give a deposit, and it’s good to ask how much the deposit will be before going forward with a project. The Prescott contractor will know how much they need for a deposit when they’ve given you the estimate, so ask early.

There’s potentially a lot that can go wrong if a tradesperson like an electrician installs wiring the wrong way. To spare you and your home or office from subpar work, make sure the electrician is bonded. Being bonded means the professional has an intermediary that can pay for any damage caused to a property or foot the bill if the contractor fails to finish the job.
The electrician may need to cut holes in your wall for the work he is doing. Any repairs will not be done by the electrician. So you will be responsible to fix the damage. So ask before the job has started how much damage doing the job will cause. On small jobs a electrician may want to be paid when the job is completed. On large jobs the electrician may ask for a down payment before he goes to start the job. And then he will either want the rest of the balance when the job is done or set up payments for you.

Unless you know what you’re doing exceptionally well, carefully consider the prospects if you’re planning on do-it-yourself electrical work. You can easily get in over your head, causing costly damage, creating potentially dangerous hazards and run afoul of local or state electrical code and regulations. In general, electricians say you can handle installing receptacles, outlets and lighting fixtures as a DIY job if you have a clear idea what you’re doing, but more complex work requires expert help.

Gentlemen: I wrote & sent this ‘review’ more than five (5) hours before receiving a request to submit a review! My experience with your organization has not been confidence inspiring! Following up with a prospective customer AFTER the professional has established contact with the customer is both unnecessary and annoying! I responded to a previous email from your company indicating that repeated follow up emails made me less-likely to use your services again. . .then received another unnecessary and annoying email from your company today. Your email included copies of email exchanges between me and Hansen Electrical . . .confirming that we were communicating directly w/ one-another! Hansen Electrical & Lighting not only provided me with a competitive quote, but I accepted that quote and the work has been completed to my total satisfaction. Paul Hansen is courteous, professional and follows up. If my experience is any indication of his work, your company will be pleased to have him as a skilled and experienced electrician, towards whom to direct inquiries for service.

Here is how you can solve your grounding question….go down to the basement and examine the cables which are entering your fuse or circuit breaker panel. If they are BX (metal spirals) then your metal boxes should be grounded. Get a light tester and touch one end to the metal box in the wall and the other end to the black (or red) terminal (make sure the wall swich is on, if applicable)…if the light goes on, you have a grounded system and you can install the 3 prong outlets and they will provide ground in the 3rd slot. Please note that if you have BX, you will not have a green wire to attach to the green screw on the new outlet, nor will you need one since the screws will make contact with the ground of the metal box automatically.

The metal panels look good right now but I am concerned with the screws. I guess I will tell him what is going on but right now we need to leave it alone. And in the future we need to plan on replacing it. I can get regular rib type roof metal panels if that is what he wants or go to shingles. His choice.
